The Healing Breath a Journal of Breathwork Practice, Psychology and Spirituality General Editor: Joy
Manné, Ph.D. |
Mission Statement
to provide a forum of discussion for the richness and diversity of Breathwork practice, psychology, spirituality, techniques, methods, variety of practices, case histories, history, development, and so forth, with place also for the complementary methods and techniques most usually taught alongside Breathwork.
History
In 1999, inspired by the creation of the International Breathwork
Foundation - www.ibfnetwork.org - and the International Society for the Advancement of Respiratory
Psychophysiology - ISARP www.ohiou.edu/isarp/
(see 'About Breathwork'), Joy Manné,
PhD, created the internet peer-review journal The
Healing Breath: a Journal of Breathwork Practice, Psychology and Spirituality to
contribute towards the creation of a professional literature of high standards
and quality for Breathwork, its Practice, Psychology and Spirituality. The first
number appeared at the end of January 1999 on Joy Manné's site www.i-breathe.com.
In 2004 the Healing Breath was transferred to its own website: www.HealingBreathJournal.org.
Three numbers per year, each usually comprising four articles and several book reviews
are published.
Editorial Board
The editorial
board of The Healing Breath consists of both academically and
experientially qualified members. Over the last years the contribution of people
in the field of medicine, health and well-being with non-Western academic
backgrounds has become increasingly recognised. Once called
"alternative" they are now designated "complementary." The
Healing Breath recognises the excellent contribution to Breathwork made by
people of different trainings and backgrounds and wishes to bring their
experience and knowledge together and to put it into the public domain. The
purpose of The Healing Breath is to contribute towards the
creation of a professional literature of high standards and quality for
Breathwork, its Practice, Psychology and Spirituality.
